Good evening. My name is Grecian Harrison Walker and I am the Principal of the historic Boys & Girls High School. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Boys & Girls High School family as a principal and the parents I know that selecting a high school is not a decision that you have made likely I want to assure you that you have made the right choice a Boys & Girls High School Ask Alice a true to our motto of keeping it 100 in their attendance academics and their progress towards graduation amazing faculty also works diligently to ensure that our students are supported in a nurturing and safe learning environment this has led to an increased number of students graduating from Boys & Girls High School College and career-ready are students excelled in advanced placement courses college now classes and Career and Technical education courses this evening you will have an opportunity to hear from my administrator as well as your 9th grade guidance counselor 9th grade success coach you will also hear from our teachers and support staff including a parent coordinator affectionately known as Mama Jean by the end of this presentation trust me you will know why earned that name you will also have an opportunity to hear from a community-based organization Good Shepherd Services who will share pertinent information about how they support our Scholars as well as their extracurricular activities we will also provide you with a virtual tour of our campus where you will be spending the next four years of your life team has worked hard to ensure that you are able to see everything that the high has to offer by the time this program is over you will know why boys and girls high school is indeed the pride and joy of bedside I look forward to seeing you in September waiting Davis Johnson AKA Mama G the very proud parent coordinator cheer at Boys and Girls High School wait a minute I am not there but I am here with all of you I am so hoping that you are so welcome I hope that you can feel the love and support and you will be able to imagine the educational experience that you will receive because that's what we had waiting for you at our home I want you to come on in go into every road just enjoy yourself imagine that you're already here I can guarantee you this one that when we meet you will be next equally with love care and support by competent and caring staff members parents that is our pledge to you I cannot wait to meet all of you I had to stop plans for you and as always it would be my privilege to serve you I hope that you are also welcome to our campus Welcome to our family welcome welcome welcome sending you a great big virtual hug and a little Mama G hello my name is mrs. Jimenez and I'll be your host for today how our charge is to challenge motivate and support you as you navigate through your academic Social Development boys and girls high school in the community school so I'll approach is holistic we support the student the family if it's just a holistic approach I'm sure you're aware of all of the academic Pro boys and girls have to let me Review AP courses honors courses individual plans for students who have specific mean you have partnership with the steam programming program we have college now program a number of CTE programs and a variety of electives and so with the CTE programs we have electrical installation architectural design and programming for electives we have music production we have modern bands we have Theater Arts and we have so what that means is that are Scholars get to graduate with a C certified New York State diploma in addition to CTE endorsements and credentials and transferable college credits absolutely amazing so as students are managing their academic life they have the opportunity to take part in a prestigious PSAL Athletic program pushed by two dedicated Direct four Athletics and their team making sure that scholar-athletes are outstanding on and off the court we have Partnerships with the shepherd service will provide after school program atoms that have homework help that have character development activities Social Services service learning projects and community service projects as well in addition to that we have other Partnerships that provide intern jobs scholarship opportunities of plethora thing did you know the boys and girls has a state-of-the-art medical center where you can receive your doctor a dentist and just have a host of address so you don't miss school but you still take care of your necessities absolutely amazing you know what come with me I'd like to show you everything that I've been talkin about so welcome to boys and girls and I'll meet you here after your tour and we'll check out a little bit enjoy I looked up and I love them no. the background iOS Adam St I Won't Give Up free food program provides and can't stop for you to explore career Pathways and develop work Readiness field-based curricula Collaborative Learning project and field trip our program is meant to an interest out of work in a Woodshop in a digital fabrication shop in to give them all sorts of fabrication skills to pay my son in like how to make an infrastructure and after that why would directly sotana relate to like your household I learned how to work with electricity by making a parallel circuit panels and I also learned how to use a different machines in the shop we use a Cooperative learning style hair with to disappear together on projects and that's the style that we feel drowsy big proactively learn how to work well with others we facilitate but we can designing and building sewage problem solved students from other students right now we're finishing a project that we had there last week. Bldg faces and a few weeks ago we had learned how to use the soldering iron to make a model and after we finish smile in the face and we have to do the wiring in a bag so we could we press copper iron LED lights for face a lot of fun stuff in electrical I got frustrated a lot but I had help. with Good Shepherd services I work for good service services at boys and girls high school I'm the program director for the after-school program here for the Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. hello how you doing my name is Christopher I work at Boys and Girls High School for Good Shepherd services a program I am a Youth Development specialist and also and after school coordinator every year we have like a annual kick-off for real students who signed up for after-school program we meet in front of like a rally and we give them an idea for goals or values but we stand for what we are committed to doing for them and how they can meet us halfway on what is expected of them throughout the course of the Year while you're an after school rules and regulations and all are slain pretty much in detail we go back and forth with a little bit of ice breakers some games ask questions if there's some clarification and we pretty much as give them a breakdown of what the world would look like moving forward when is soon as coming Friday they nearly receive a snack or or hot meal then we are of academic tutoring hi my name is Trey Moses I worked with a Shepherd Services of boys and girls high schools one of the things that I do mainly is English tutoring but I also helped most of the students with their social studies some of their Spanish little bit of science I don't need help distribute the star I helped arrange with lining up in the cafeteria bringing him upstairs to the various rooms for homework help in tutoring game room for activities Palmyra and I work at Good Shepherd services at boys and girls high school as the film and video production instructor what we do here is we go around the school and we shoot the different events that are going on we edit and we presented to the student body we have a virtual TV studio in which we've learned television production behind the same production and photography as well we also offer Visual Arts major learn how to make cartoons in different visual specialist with Good Shepherd services at boys and girls high school I think the students After Effects Photoshop and other forms of artwork we also offer the studio where I producer shows and teachers and student how to produce beats how to edit samples and also had a record and pretty much make attract run that back Valentine Valentine Advanced weed killer grass several dances that we put on performances for the school and in any events that we happen to come across we also offer the kids 6X add when they receive information on the proper way to go about SpaceX we also have weekly Auto which is where we have and relatives on conversations about what's going on in the world and keeping up with current events we had a game room in the game room is open to the students so they can play any games they like from board games to video games PS4 the Wii U have Monopoly trouble so many different games and car games all know that the students can engage in on their own time when it's activity time we also try to take the students out once a month since I text or something different different things we take them to the Berkeley go to watch the next game hockey games between the Museum's skating rings movies I think AB schools important for the kids not only to receive the like the academic tutoring also to life is like a family so the kids get the commute to mingle with people they normally don't get a chance to mingle with day day they receive support they have somebody to talk to if you keeps them off the streets they help improve academics on throughout the school year rehab stay on top of no-where like a mentor to them as well and the Good Shepherd teen for organizing $9 how it sounds when you try to reach out to the families to get them to come inside the school to the mingle with us as a program and as a community to be host Thanksgiving dinners behold holiday parties mijos Black Hills we host showcases tutu to Showcase your talent I can't tell you guys how much I love and enjoy my job and working with my kids are calling my kids because they are no longer students to me We Are Family on this program is very important we are for a lot of activities and opportunities for the students to better themselves and that's cool. Mayonnaise is not about building you know the perfect student is more like building the perfect human or living a perfect family and that's what we're all about here at Good Shepherd services incoming freshmen this is your boy Christopher Moore specialist in after school coordinator for the Good Shepherd Services Care at boys and girls high school support and engage you guys in a mini activities that has to offer you will expect assistant coach what is the success coach you met at 12 it is who is there to help support you God for your academic success they are there to get your way through any social academic support you may need and also check this out we also have an after-school program here boys and girls hot where we offer many many activities such as dance photo video games we have it okay we also take trip we all college initiative at school program so I'll goal is to get you guys out of high school and college and a job or career what you like to do freshmen I hope you're ready I hope you're ready to have some fun I hope you're ready to learn High School what's the high class of 2024 Thomas the 9th grade English teacher and I commute to the high I'm looking forward to meeting each and every one of you and the next school year I want always keep it 100 see you guys soon weather hey what did you think amazing right aren't you glad you made the choice become a kangaroo I'm part of the legacy of Boys & Girls High School the pride and joy of that start with b on September look forward to working with you by
