middle of a global pandemic the likes of which we have never seen additionally I realized have had to endure more than your fair share of grief from the loss of loved ones and in spite of it all you are here today now we couldn't be here together however there's no need to despair absolutely no need it's really not about walking across the stage each of you have worked hard to get but now your work is just beginning you have so much more to do and now you're old enough and responsible enough to begin your own special I like your family and really proud of each of you for getting this far and really excited about where you go next and what year going to accomplish and most importantly how you're going to change our world when you think about all World remember this you don't have to accept the world as it is you have within you what it takes to make it into a world that it should be and could be you can create a new Norm Farrah and gives everyone opportunity and treat everyone things that I've learned one thing is that Teamwork Makes the DreamWork I may have my account but working together team with the help and guidance of our coaches who support one another and lift one another's strengths of graduates many of the people on your team are with you today in spirit they're your coaches and life will be looking to help you refine your skills and over another lesson I learned from basketball to always give it your own you get an amazing sense of achievement from pushing to the boundaries and putting your everything in you can get that same feeling from learned especially your favorite subject you may learn for life or you're not so favorite subject or courses to basketball took me around the world I played in Israel in France and turkey my community voted for me after I ran for city council and later the Guinness Book of World Records you told a politician in the world and some people said well with your background or your style before or some people even said well you're not the ideal looking city council member I got the build on my own The Narrative of my community passing laws on public health Public Safety Economic Development helping small businesses and overall civil rights in our community in this climate especially important to help bring laws forward for the week draw the right everyone of us deserves however you look no matter your height your way your skin color for your hairstyle a religion or your background don't listen to those who want to talk with you about these around your talent and you dis listen to Bill limits what kind of box do you want this year I know that if you always keep the determination that got you to this very day the line on the people who are on your team push yourself to achieve and don't listen to those who want to do some combination of those things you might not have to even do them all and you will all have large bills with Ray success so continue to build on your personal narrative congratulations class of 2020 thank you I am so happy to say that I'm finally graduating I put hard work into all four years of high school I still have kind of feelings towards me graduating because my mom is not here she's at but I'm still staying strong I will never give up and I still have my sister here to support me so, so I'd like to say that little Wonderful Life didn't you let nothing be remember Miss Armani Stewart Torres a salutatorian Miss Whittingham good morning BJ's as faculty distinguished guests parents and my fellow graduate my name is Armani stertorous the salutatorian for the class of 2020 my experience at boys and girls high school was unlike anything else except as the 9th grade with four regions and from the very beginning I wasn't sure average freshman I didn't sit in classes with most of you I probably didn't even have lunch with some of you but one thing I did do was make it mine and to make certain that we all enjoyed our four years together starting at our very first ice cream social we all had full of ice cream piled high with sprinkles Oreos and pretty much anything else you can think of I was introduced as our Freshman Class representative and from that moment on I have never done anything left me with a mouth full of chocolate staring back at a room full of curious faces the only thing on my mind was all the plans I had in store now four years later as your student body president I am pleased to say I was able to play an important role in our school because the number one liaison in any situation the first one anyone would look at for a helping hand already mine and a Caring Heart being able to proudly say I have formed a strong relationship with our entire singer and many others is no small feet after spending so much time and learning about each and every one of you I can easily say we are all bound for great people always like to the After High School you are thrown into adult life yet I don't believe that this graduating class is a much like the ones that came before us we're independent hard-working hopeful but class of funny we are much more than that we continue to push for when it seems hopeless our senior year was cut short we were tossed into a completely unconventional and no one would have been able to imagine before I know personally it feels like we did all the hard work and breathe no rewards but that's absolutely not true we as a graduating class James something much more in the face of a global pandemic we made it we might not be able to physically walk a staged but that in itself is an achievement we are able to show evidence of our tutor donation and willpower sometimes it's easy to undermine your own achievements and many of us forget how impactful they are myself included we are strong and we are going make a difference in this world High School teaches you many lessons and sometimes the most important ones are the ones you never expected I was always good at math it came pretty easy I didn't struggle I didn't study and I always got until I didn't I had finally met my meds your salutatorians that for her trigonometry Regents of three years I feel my trig Regents five times and the point of me telling you all this is because in life you'll face a trigonometry something that you just can't seem to get right but you cannot let it stop you I made it a personal goal today in my Advanced Regents diploma so in January of my senior year I sat for my trigonometry Regents once again I sat in a room literally alone miss miss and Mister Melendez are my Witnesses and I scored a 73 there are some battles in life you just know you can't lose perseverance is truly key and it is absolutely necessary if we are going to be the change this world desperately mean I would not have made it this far if not for the love and support from so many special people in my life my mother father and my step-dad deserve acknowledgement for their daily sacrifices for my well-being my Mima and my TV for being my voice of reason also I want to thank each and every teacher that has allowed me a chance in paestum mr. Miss Melo Mist Henry mr. Lynch Miss Tomlin and especially mr. Miss right with your wife I'm in ketosis and all the other supporting staff members in a Boys & Girls High School thank you for everything receded having spent the last four years with all of you countries in the great things the future holds for us congratulations best wishes for your future and please be the change you wish to see in the world thank you tough times because we always ask this Papa Smurf how can you Pollo Regio brother's got it. baby mothers have to cry got to go congratulations to the class of 2020 especially to my name is Stephanie I am director here at boys and girls high school this year was very different many of you see this were cut short something that happens as a former asking myself I know firsthand how important. and I understand the frustration and then if you fell back in March as days turn into weeks into months you realize that the school year was truly atom moves from a wonderful building at 1700 Fulton Street to our home but you were able to channel the discipline that you use within the line to complete your virtual classes and get here to graduation date a society is stripped of all of his distractions and forced to stay home we collectively are beginning to take a hard look at what Society do you look like now never coming with the global pandemic of the coronavirus and the global pandemic of racism with millions of Americans losing their jobs and thousands more losing their lives to has been lifted for us to see all the ugly that has been covered up a decade with all that is going on I know that your generation is going to make the world turn its already happening as I turn on the news small part to see all the young people using their voices and their platforms to make a change and to stand up for justice it is your time now to her the world make them see you never stop being yourself and never shrink yourself because it makes other people uncomfortable As Leaders you are in a unique position to leave your peer so stand tall and confident in that position that people may put a lot of energy to tell you down or the doubt you but don't take that to you first and don't let the negativity that is for Charities of others take away from your goals there will be days that don't hurt but don't ever stay in that hurt too long acknowledged it but then continue to do turn that criticism and allow it to power your remember failure is Success they go hand-in-hand you can't have one without the other failure teaches you valuable lesson that prepares you for the success that was to follow so always remain a work-in-progress no matter how success you may become or how much money you may have pain how many points you score remain a work-in-progress that mindset will ground you in a space of growth and will allow you to love yourself enough to work on your weaknesses now it is time to open up a new chapter and you get to be the office you got to make sure you're not making decisions based on someone else's expectations the world is a big and scary place certain that the staff members here at boys and girls high school have given you the tools that you need to succeed in all of your endeavors work ethic talent and discipline take pride in how far you have come this pivotal Milestone as a member of the class of 2020 and remember that your success is determined by your own confidence and again relations and I wish you all the success in the future mr. bird is out call Jean everybody do the power clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap does Disney own Home Depot what's the weather looking like we're going back on the plane does DanTDM have a twin the game Desiree Smith System that foot size that's right. I basically I'm saying either way we can let this one slide Springville Harrison Walker family friends and to the graduating class of 2020 of the Boys & Girls High School congratulations your family is proud of your school is proud of you Community is proud of you and I'm here participating in your graduation because the country is proud of you as well these have been some incredibly difficult circumstances to have to complete your senior year in the midst of a deadly covid-19 pandemic that has brought a lot of pain and suffering and death to the community the city and to the country I have never imagined during the start of your senior year that you would be forced to change direction to leave the classroom and to complete your senior year at home but you ran the race you completed the mission you cross the finish line you've done and Incredibly powerful thing intumescent as you travel alone because one of the things that I've concluded throughout my years is that life is filled with ups and downs with highs and low with t sent Valley life is filled with trials and tribulations I often travel a lot between Brooklyn and Washington DC Washington DC back to Brooklyn that one of the reasons why so many don't like the fly is because they recognize that at some point along the way when they're up on that plane they're likely to encounter turn down the what I'm talking about 40000 ft hot plane starts rocking back and forth no place to go it's at that moment when everybody on the plane it's religion. Praying what does plant my feet on Solid Ground what am I trying to say woman like you can't get from your Point of Departure to your point of destination without at some moment along the way and
