On Saturday, November 30th, the jersey of former Boys and Girls High School alumni, Dwayne Alonzo “Pearl” Washington was retired during the annual Kangaroo Basketball Classics. Rated as the number one high school player while at BGHS, “Pearl” Washington would go on to play college basketball at Syracuse University before joining the New Jersey Nets as a Round 1 draft pick. During his career, he would also play for the Miami Heat, Rapid City Thrillers and the San Jose Jammers.
